Lyris has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, which is a form of bone cancer. She has a tumor in her leg. IT IS CURABLE!! Thank goodness! Lyris had been complaining about her leg hurting off and on for probably two months. She was waking up in the middle of the night and we just thought she may have slept on it wrong. She would shake it off and go on about her day and we wouldn’t hear anything else about it. Then it started happening more frequently. So we took her to Urgent Care and the said they couldn’t find anything wrong, that it may just be “Growing Pains.”
So another week went by and she was still complaining. As a mother, you know when something isn’t right. I made her an appointment with an Orthopaedic Specialist. They did more x-rays and zoned in on where she was having pain. That’s where they discovered a spot on her bone and immediately sent her in for a CT Scan and MRI and confirmed it was indeed Osteosarcoma.
Lyris will be in and out of Egleston Childrens hospital for a while doing Chemo treatments to kill the cancer cells and shrink the tumor. In about 10 weeks she will undergo surgery to remove the part of the bone that has the tumor on it.
How are we doing?
Actually, we’re in a really good place! 🙂 We know why our daughter is in pain and we know it can be fixed. The worst part was seeing our daughter in pain and not being able to make it go away. We are focused on healing her from the inside out. We started juicing and trying to eat healthier.
What can you do to help?
Pray for Lyris to be healed. We would like to incorporate a raw food diet a couple of days a week as well as vegetarian, but we need help with putting meals together. So if anyone knows any good recipes, please let us know.
